Deadly waters of the
In the Baltic Sea on Sunday night with the ferry Silja Festival fell into the water a young man from Latvia.
The representative of the Latvian Coast Guard Liene Ulbina reported that at 2:42 am on the ferry was raised an alarm because a man overboard. Accident took place about 40 nautical miles (about 74 miles) from Ventspils.
First, the crew was searching for a man on their own. Later in the rescue operation had involved a nearby merchant ship, the Latvian and Estonian coast guard, navy and air force.
Area of the accident was searched several times, but found only lifeline, and waistcoat.
The water temperature in the sea now stands at +2 to +4 degrees, and a man in such circumstances can not survive recognized Ulbina. Rescue operations were halted at 7:50.
The young man, born in 1982 - a citizen of Latvia. The circumstances under which he fell overboard, are unknown.
