Schengen visas can cancel in 2010

The following year, the EU can introduce visa-free regime for Russian citizens. "It's very good news awaiting us in 2010, in the sense that the issues of liberalization of the visa regime will now be addressed by a qualified majority vote rather than on the basis of unanimity, - said the Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini in an interview Russia Today." This will enable such country like Italy to make a proposal and say that she believes that the Russians have earned the right to visa-free movement within the EU. Now, any of the 27 EU member states can veto and block any decision, "- said Frattini."

In the future it will become impossible, because the matter will be decided by qualified majority vote, and I think it collected a majority in order to enter visa-free regime for Russians in 2010, "- he concluded." In Russia with interest the words Frattini, "- told RIA Novosti source in the ministry said. According to him, Moscow many years negotiating with the EU on facilitation of mutual trips of citizens of our countries and "do not lose hope as soon as possible to solve this problem." Recently, at the OSCE Ministerial Meeting in Athens, Russia offered to make the issue of visa-free regime in the agenda of the organization, but was refused. Earlier, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the EU Vladimir Chizhov has repeatedly stated that the issue of visa-free regime with the European Union there is "considerable political component," and that the talks are of great complexity.
